Japanese Ambassador Endo Kazuya met with Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. yesterday to discuss ongoing and future areas of cooperation between Japan and the Philippines in the agriculture sector.
During the meeting, Ambassador Endo reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to support the development of Philippine agriculture.
Both sides exchanged views on further strengthening bilateral cooperation, including expanding existing frameworks of collaboration, promoting sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural practices, and facilitating improved market access and agricultural trade between the two countries.
The discussions also included the Philippines’ participation in the Green Expo 2027 in Yokohama, Japan, which will provide an opportunity to showcase Philippine initiatives in sustainable agriculture, as well as its diverse horticulture industry, and rich cultural and agricultural heritage.
For his part, Secretary Laurel reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to foster deeper agricultural ties with Japan and advance shared goals in sustainable agriculture.
