The country recorded its highest seven-month export value this year since the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) began tracking the series in 1991.
This was disclosed by PSA after merchandise exports from January to July 2026 hit USD54.92 billion, a 12.9% rise from USD48.67 billion in the same period last year.
Electronics remained the key growth driver with exports climbing 21% to USD30.92 billion.
According to Philippine Exporters Confederation Inc. (PHILEXPORT) President Sergio Ortiz-Luis Jr., other sectors that also offer growth opportunities include agricutural products, garments, toys, housewares, and Christmas decor.
Meanwhile, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is pursuing market diversification through free trade agreements (FTAs) and greater use of existing trade preferences to expand Philippine exporters’ access to international markets.
DTI-Export Marketing Bureau Director Bianca Pearl Sykimte expressed cautious optimism that the strong performance could help the country meet or exceed its 2026 export growth targets of 3% for goods and 4% for services.
Through the first seven months record performance this year, Export Development Council (EDC) sees a positive momentum that businesses can build on by exploring new markets, taking advantage of available trade preferences, and strengthening their competitiveness to capture emerging opportunities in both established and non-traditional export sectors.
