Japanese Ambassador Endo Kazuya along with his wife Endo Akiko recently led the ribbon-cutting and opening ceremony of the Philippine Bonsai Society Inc. (PBSI) National Bonsai and Suiseki Show 2026 at the Greenhills Mall, San Juan.
They were joined by PBSI President Cristina Anne Dionisio, San Juan City Mayor Francisco Zamora, Philippine Bonsai Judges and Instructors Associated (PBJIA) President Romy Dino, and PBJIA Board Secretary and Bonsai Challenge Coordinator Boy Pangilinan, including Associate Justice Jose Midas Marquez as a special guest.

In his remarks, Ambassador Endo lauded PBSI’s dedication and efforts in organizing such events that bring together Filipino bonsai and suiseki enthusiasts.
Citing Japan and the Philippines’ 70th anniversary of friendship this year, Ambassador Endo said, “Now is the time we look back on what is truly essential; on the roots that have shaped our countries’ bond through genuine exchanges such as this.”
The event showcases a tranquil display of the timeless and elegant beauty of bonsai and suiseki, each expertly crafted to highlight a harmonious and serene work of art.
Running until June 21, the event also includes lectures, live demonstrations, workshops, and a celebration of the fusion of Japanese and Filipino artistry.Â
