Japanese Ambassador Endo Kazuya recently paid a courtesy call on Senator Erwin Tulfo, who was appointed as the new Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in February 2026.
During the meeting, Ambassador Endo highlighted the long-standing friendly relations between the Philippines and Japan as they mark the 70th anniversary of friendship this year.
Amid growing uncertainty in regional and global affairs, Ambassador Endo said Japan intends to continue contributing across a wide range of fields, including security and defense, economic cooperation, peace in Mindanao, and people-to-people exchanges.
Senator Erwin Tulfo, for his part, noted the friendship and cooperation between the Philippines and Japan have continued to strengthen over the past decades. He also reaffirmed the Senate intends to contribute to the further development of the bilateral relations.
