
On behalf of Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero, Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa received a delegation from the Thai Senate, headed by its Second Vice-President Boonsong Noisophon, at the Philippine Senate yesterday. The Thai delegates came to participate in a briefing and exchange of best practices in legislation.
Both parties affirmed the robust relations between the Philippines and Thailand, spanning numerous levels of cooperation, particularly including interparliamentary exchanges.
They also said that collaboration both at the parliamentarians and parliamentary staff levels are instrumental in ensuring an enduring and stable legislature.
Senator Dela Rosa, who is also the Philippines-Thailand Parliamentary Friendship Association President, cited the active efforts of their parliamentary friendship groups to pursue greater dialogue and regular interaction.
Meanwhile, officials from the Philippine Senate’s Legislation Department headed by Deputy Secretary Marivic Laurel Garcia, and the Office of International Relations and Protocol headed by Director-General Antonio de Guzman Jr., shared the Secretariat’s legislative structure, the law-making process in the Philippines, as well as improvements and challenges in research and development.
Both sides expressed their intention to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two parliaments, even at the secretariat level.
