President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. recently conferred the Order of Sikatuna to outgoing European Union (EU) Ambassador to the Philippines Luc Véron for his outstanding service in developing and strengthening the EU-Philippines relations.
As he bid farewell to the Philippines, Ambassador Véron thanked President Marcos for his efforts to further strengthen EU-Philippines relations, of which this year marks the 60th anniversary (1964-2024).
Ambassador Véron also reiterated the European Union’s commitment towards stepping up its engagement with the Philippines and the Indo-Pacific region.
Under a bilateral Framework Agreement on Partnership and Cooperation, EU-PH collaboration is growing in many areas, including trade and investment, circular economy, sustainable energy, digital connectivity, maritime cooperation, peace and development parrticularly in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), security, good governance, access to justice, and disaster preparedness.
