Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Senator Erwin Tulfo visited today Oman Ambassador Abdullah Al Manwari in his office in Taguig and personally expressed appreciation for the Sultanate’s continued assistance to the Philippines in the ongoing Middle East crisis.
During Tulfo’s visit, he cited Oman for being a safe channel for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who went through repatriation.
He likewise noted Oman has been a reliable partner of the Philippines especially during critical situations such as when it assisted to release the 17 Filipino seaferers who were held hostage by Houthi in Yemen last year.
“In case this war would drag on, I hope you can help us boost our oil reserves. We will ask through our proper government channels—the Departments of Foreign Affairs and Energy,” the senator told the envoy while looking into a potential government-to-government transaction for additional oil supply from Oman.
Al Manwari said Oman Embassy has yet to confirm with their corresponding ministry on how the Sultanate can help the Philippines oil supply-wise.
Both officials also exhanged their sentiments on wanting immediate peace that will effectively halt the crises around the world.
