
Japan’s Chargé d’Affaires Ono Sho emphasized the country’s unwavering commitment as a peace-loving nation at the commemoration of the Leyte Gulf Landings, now on its 81st anniversary, held at the MacArthur Landing Memorial National Park in Palo City, Leyte.
In his remarks, Chargé d’affaires Ono also honored those who have fallen and recognized the steadfast service of Filipino veterans to the Philippines while reflecting on World War II that ended 80 years ago..
He also expressed the renewed determination to further strengthen Japan-Philippines relations, as the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries will be celebrated next year.

The event was organized by the Governor of Leyte Carlos Jericho Petilla, and was also attended by Palo Mayor Remedios Petilla, Australian Ambassador Marc Innes-Brown, and other Philippine Government officials.

Chargé d’Affaires Ono also paid a courtesy call on Governor Petilla. They exchanged views on what they described as a promising potential for Japan-Philippines cooperation in Leyte.
