The recent European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) 2024 concluded with a gathering of more than 2,000 students, professionals, and university officials and faculty from all over the Philippines during the two-day event at Robinsons Galleria Ortigas in Quezon City.
The fair was organized by the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines, and the embassies and cultural institutes of EU member states on November 22-23, with online sessions on November 25.
With this year’s theme, “Pathways to Excellence,“ the fair highlighted the diverse educational avenues in the European Union to equip Filipino students with the skills, knowledge, mindset, and life-changing experiences needed to thrive in a fast-evolving and evermore interconnected global landscape.
At least 77 higher education institutions and diplomatic missions participated from 14 EU member states, namely Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Spain, France, Italy, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Finland, and Sweden.
On-site seminars were hosted by the EU member states’ embassies and cultural institutes, where participants received answers to their questions on higher education systems, “student life” in the EU, research grants, and scholarship opportunities.
The language and cultural institutes of some EU member states present in Manila such as Alliance Francaise, Goethe-Institut Philippines, Instituto Cervantes, and Philippine-Italian Association catered to the members of the public interested in learning a foreign language.
This year’s Philippine regional hubs included University of Santo Tomas (Metro Manila), Wesleyan University (Luzon), and Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan (Mindanao); and university partners Ateneo de Manila University – European Studies Programme, De La Salle University, Enderun College, Holy Cross of Davao College, Lyceum Philippines University – Cavite, Mabalacat City College, University of the Cordilleras, and World Citi College.
The EHEF 2024 was also supported by professional organizations such as the Philippine Communication Society and European Studies Association of the Philippines.
