Japanese Ambassador Endo Kazuya recently paid a courtesy call on Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara to discuss challenges in the Philippine education sector and to reaffirm the strengthening of Japan-Philippines cooperation in addressing these issues.
During the meeting, Ambassador Endo and Secretary Angara exchanged views on the importance of Japanese language education in the Philippine secondary education.
The officials also discussed the Japanese government’s support for training Filipino teachers, as well as the initiatives by Japanese-affiliated companies related to education.
Both vowed to continue the proactive cooperation betweeen the Philippines and Japan.
