Israel Ambassador Ilan Fluss is calling on Philippine authorities to support Israel at this time when they have declared war against the terrorist group Hamas yesterday.
He asked that there be no calls on Israel to stop, because authorities need to respond (to the attack launched against them).
The Ambassador immediately held a press conference with Philippine media this morning and answered questions on issues surrounding the surprise attack.
Mr. Fluss said his Embassy is working closely with Philippine authorities, such as the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces for safety and security.
He assured the Israeli government is taking care of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), care-givers and students. He noted there are around 5,000 foreign workers in Israel.
For now, Ambassador Fluss said Israel is doing everything to protect its citizens and regain the territories that are being used as annexes by the Hamas terrorists.
He said while the numbers of casualties and the wounded are still blurry, the Israeli government continues to act on this terrorist attack. “Enough is enough,” Mr. Fluss stressed.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF THE ISRAELI EMBASSY IN MANILA REGARDING THE CURRENT TERRORIST ATTACKS IN ISRAEL BY THE TERRORIST ORGANIZATION HAMAS
On the sacred day of Simchat Torah (the peaceful celebration of the Jewish people), Israel was shattered by heinous attacks by the notorious terrorist organization Hamas. Hamas is supported by its close and main supporter, Iran.
The massive terror attacks caused more than 250 Israeli casualties, more than 1600 injured, and more than 100 Israelis have been kidnaped and captured as hostages in Gaza. Hamas continues to fire rockets into Israel. The terrorist organization entered our cities and residential homes targeting innocent Israeli citizens including elderly people, women, and children.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) will have to respond to these attacks, initiating a large-scale operation after Hamas has practically announced war against Israel. Israel has the full right to respond and protect itself.
In this moment of anguish, we call on our friends and allies to express strong support for Israel and to condemn these terror attacks by Hamas. We expect the international community and our close allies to condemn terror and express support for Israel’s right to defend itself and its citizens.
We appreciate the kind messages and support that Israel is receiving from our Filipino friends.
As we navigate these challenging times, a resounding message reverberates: Stand with Israel, condemn the attacks by Hamas, and reject terrorism unequivocally.
