The European Union in the Philippines welcomed today, September 12, European Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Hahn in his two-day visit to Manila.
This is the first time that a European Commissioner for Budget and Administration visits the Philippines.
The Commissioner will take the opportunity of his stay in Manila to promote investment in EU-bonds as a safe asset and the euro (EUR) as a stable global currency.
His itinerary includes meeting with Philippine budget and finance interlocutors from the country including Finance Secretary Ralph Recto.
On his first day in Manila, Commissioner Hahn has so far met with Bangko Sentral OIC Chuchi Fonacier to discuss budget policies.
He also had a meeting with Department of Budget and Management Secretary Amenah Pangandaman where he noted that the Philippines has remained a global open government champion.
The Commissioner will be in the country until September 13.
