In the coming weeks, 63 Filipino students will start the pursuit of their academic dreams in several countries of the European Union (EU) after they won scholarship grants under the EU’s Erasmus+ program.
The Erasmus+ program will allow them to pursue MA and PhD programs in different universities across the European Union.
The EU’s mobility and scholarship program, Erasmus+, is structured to allow students to study in several EU member states, giving them the opportunity to benefit from the academic excellence and culture of more than one university.
During the recent send-off, EU Ambassador to the Philippines Luc VĂ©ron said the Philippines repeatedly ranked as one of the countries with the highest number of Erasmus+ scholars in the region.
This year’s send-off ceremonies were organized by the EU Delegation in collaboration with Campus Erasmus.
Campus Erasmus is comprised of Erasmus+ alumni from the Philippines.
Ambassador VĂ©ron congratulated the Erasmus+ students and urged them to become ambassadors of goodwill to help strengthen the partnership between the EU and the Philippines, especially in light of their 60th diplomatic relations anniversary being celebrated this year.
He also encouraged the Erasmus+ scholars to give back to their country after finishing their program in the EU.
The Erasmus+ program gives a life-changing opportunity for Filipino students to study in the best higher education institutions in the EU and other partner countries, experience the European culture, learn European languages, and be integrated into the European society for one to two years.
Erasmus+ is among the leading international academic mobility programs in the world. Besides promoting student mobility, Erasmus+ also supports partnerships between European and Philippine higher education institutions.
