Senate President Francis “Chiz” G. Escudero welcomed Singaporean Ambassador to the Philippines Constance See at the Senate Ceremonial Hall on August 27.
The two officials discussed the potential of greater trade and investments between the Philippines and Singapore and the challenges of renewable energy production in their respective countries.
They also explored other possible sources of power generation such as waste-to-energy technology, but admitted that there are some reservations from several sectors on the acceptance and use of nuclear power.
They also shared views on the political setup and system of government of their respective countries. Ambassador See explained Singapore’s model of having a parliamentary democracy system, with their Prime Minister as Head of Government, and their President as a unifying figure to their people, among other roles.
