France joins the 11th edition of the International Silent Film Festival Manila with a special screening of Marcel L’Herbier’s L’Inhumaine (The New Enchantment), which narrates the inhumane treatment by famous singer Claire Lescot of her two admirers, Maharaja Djorah de Nopur and Swedish scientist Einar Norsen.
Franco-Vietnamese harpist and singer HeloiseLaHarpe brings Claire to life through a live musical performance that recreates the spirit of the 1920s with classicism of the harp as a feminine instrument. Héloïse will be performing with Filipino jazz pianist Ryan Villamor and percussionist Aldous Castro to give us the atmosphere of the roaring twenties, the Gatsby-esque parties, and the beginning of the emancipation of women.
The Embassy of France to the Philippines and Micronesia and INSTITUT FRANÇAIS are proud to bring this piece of French film heritage to Manila on Friday, September 1, 9:30pm at the Shangri-La Plaza as part of the International Silent Film Festival, which runs from August 31 to September 3, 2017!
Stay tuned for more updates from the co-organizers: Austrian Embassy Manila, British Council Philippines, Film Development Council of the Philippines, Goethe-Institut Philippinen, Instituto Cervantes de Manila, The Japan Foundation, Manila, The Philippine Italian Association, U.S. Embassy, Manila Philippines, and Para Sa Sining
