Philippines Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual summed up on May 4 that the President’s official visit to the United States had been fruitful.
In total, the Philippines secured USD1.3 billion worth of investment pledges from American companies that are expected to directly generate about 6,700 employment opportunities.
According to Secretary Pascual, enhancing bilateral relationship with other countries, including the neighboring countries in Asia, plays a significant role as the Philippines pursues economic recovery and expansion post-pandemic.
He also stressed this is crucial in addressing global challenges, while promoting peace, stability, and economic growth.
Following the official visit to the United States, Secretary Pascual is set to travel to Indonesia on May 5 to attend the upcoming 22nd ASEAN Economic Community Council (AEC) and the 42nd ASEAN Summit from May 6-11, 2023.
He will take this as an opportunity to discuss, together with his foreign counterparts from the ASEAN region, the Philippines’ trade, investment, health, and agricultural priorities.
