
At the sidelines of his attendance to the Philippines-France Joint Economic Committee (PH-FR JEC) Meeting on 20 June 2023, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual met with Senator Mathieu Darnaud, President of the France-Southeast Asia Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group.
“The Philippines is open for business,” this was the primary message Secretary Pascual communicated to Senator Darnaud during their bilateral meeting. He expressed the Philippines is keen on attracting more investments from France in an effort to maintain and even surpass the current economic growth trajectory of the country.
He also emphasized that the Philippine government aims to generate higher quality and better-paying jobs for the Filipino people through these investments and that France play a crucial role in the attainment of this goal.
Likewise, Secretary Pascual highlighted the Philippines’ strategic location in Southeast Asia that makes it an ideal investment destination for businesses that seek foreign expansion.
The France-Southeast Asia Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group is a senatorial friendship group in charge of fostering bilateral partnerships and collaborations between France and countries in the Southeast Asia such as the Philippines.
