Japanese officials of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) led by Policy Research Council Chairperson Kobayashi Takayuki visited the Republic of the Philippines last week.
The delegation included LDP Foreign Affairs Division Chairperson Takagi Kei, National Defense Division Chairperson Honda Taro, and Policy Research Council Chairperson’s Special Advisor Suzuki Eikei.

Part of their two-day activities was a visit to the Philippine Coast Guard and the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP). They also paid courtesy calls on National Defense Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. and National Security Adviser Eduardo M. Año. They also held exchanging of views with Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque and representatives of the Philippine business community.

Chairperson Kobayashi and his delegation, together with their Philippine counterparts, reaffirmed the importance of continuing close cooperation between Japan and the Philippines on issues related to the regional security environment as well as economic and industrial sectors.
