The Embassy of Japan has announced applications for the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) Program for the academic year 2026-2027 is now open.
Successful applicants will be the 24th batch of JDS fellows who will have the opportunity to pursue master’s degree studies at leading universities in Japan.
The JDS has so far granted scholarships to 479 fellows from the Philippines since it was launched in the country in 2002. Many JDS fellows have since played key roles in the formulation and implementation of policies in their respective fields.
Funded by the Government of Japan through its Official Development Assistance (ODA) and implemented by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the program aims to support the human resource development policies of the Government of the Philippines by providing young Filipino government officers with opportunities to pursue graduate studies in Japan.
Through this initiative, participants are expected to gain specialized knowledge and conduct research that will contribute to the progress of the Philippines.
This batch of scholarship grant is based on the exchange of notes signed between the Governments of Japan and the Philippines on April 25, 2025.
This agreement reaffirms Japan’s commitment to support programs that nurture future leaders who can contribute to the Philippines’ socioeconomic development and further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
