
Japaneses Ambassador Endo Kazuya paid a courtesy visit on September 24 to Manila City Hall and exchanged views with Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and Vice Mayor Angela Lei “Chi” Atienza on economic cooperation between Manila and Japan, as well as public safety and security issues in the Philippines.
Ambassador Endo recognized Mayor Domagoso’s efforts to strengthen security measures for Japanese residents and tourists in Manila.
For his part, Mayor Domagoso reaffirmed the Ambassador of the local government unit’s commitment to continue cooperation in improving security measures and public safety situations for Japanese nationals.
He also expressed his hopes for increased investments to Manila by Japanese companies, as well as growth in the number of Japanese tourists in the city.
Ambassador Endo noted 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of Japan-Philippine friendship. He expressed the Embassy of Japan’s intention to work with the Manila City authorities to further strengthen the bilateral relations in preparation for the celebration of this milestone.
