The Philippines, through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), welcomed on 25 August 2017 a 14-member Japan Management Association (JMA) delegation. From 23 to 25 August, the delegation conducted ocular visits of Hitachi and Accenture facilities and participated in two (2) JMA fora that were focused on the theme, “Co-Creation of Value – Growing with Asia to create community affluence in the next generation.” The forum resulted in active discussions on how Japanese companies can introduce innovation to Philippine industries for sustainable development as well as how Japan can contribute to addressing socio-economic challenges through the use of technology. Special Trade Representative Dita Angara-Mathay (1st row; 1stfrom left) led the group in its courtesy call in the office of Consumer Protection Group (CPG) Undersecretary Atty. Teodoro C. Pascua (1st row; 3rd from left). The Undersecretary engaged executives from Suntory Holdings, Tokyu Corporation, Tokyo Metro, Nippon Express, Fujita Corporation, Yamato Holdings, Fuji Electric, Ryohin Keikaku, Muji, and professors from Kyoto and Rikkyu Universities in a spirited discussion on how Japanese technology, innovation and investments can assist the Philippines in areas such as HR development, consumer safety, employment generation and industry development. The JMA contingent’s business interests in the Philippines cover franchising, retailing, medical, educational, retirement facilities and manufacturing.
