
The Embassy of Japan has opened the application for a logo design contest in connection with next year’s celebration of Philippines-Japan friendship.
The logo that will best illustrate the theme “Weaving the future together: Peace, Prosperity, Possibilities”will be used in a series of commemorative events being planned for 2026, the year that marks the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Below are the application guidelines listed by the Embassy of Japan:
- Subject: Logo for the 70th Anniversary of Philippines-Japan Friendship
- Eligibility: The competition is open to all nationals of the Philippines and Japan residing in either country, regardless of age.
- Deadline: Applications must be received by Tuesday, October 30, 2025.

- Judging Process: The submitted logo designs will be reviewed by the Executive Committee of the 70th Anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Japan Commemorative Project (hereinafter referred to as the “Executive Committee”) and relevant parties from both countries. The best design will be selected as the official commemorative logo.
- Announcement of Results: Results will be announced on the websites of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines and the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Japan) in October 2025.
How to apply:
- Please submit the original data below, along with an application form that includes your name, affiliation, and a description of the design concept, by email to the Executive Committee Secretariat Submissions by mail will not be accepted.
- Logo designs should be no larger than 3MB, with a resolution of at least 300 dpi resolution or above, and in either JPEG or PDF file format, and should fit within one horizontal A4 sheet of paper when printed. We may ask you to change the format of your design if necessary. The submitted design may be requested to be converted to another format.
- Please write a description of the concept behind your design proposal in approximately 100 characters on the application form. The description will be announced when the winning design is announced.
- Please submit two versions: color (no restrictions on colors, gradients, etc.) and black and white.
- There is no limit to the number of entries.
- We will not return any design proposals or materials submitted.

Notes:
- Logo designs must be the original work of the contestant, must not have been previously presented domestically or internationally, and must not infringe on the trademarks, or other rights of third parties.
- The use of generative AI is not permitted in the creation of designs.
- Logo designs should promote exchange, mutual understanding, and friendly relations between the Philippines and Japan in a wide range of fields (including economics, society, arts, academia, sports, and tourism), and should embody the remarkable journey of Philippines-Japan relations over the past 70 years.
- The colored version of the logo should take into consideration the colors of the Philippine and Japanese flags.
- The selected logo design may be modified or altered as necessary for use as a logo. Please note that if the selected logo design and/or the applicant do not meet the necessary conditions, or if consent for modifications or alterations cannot be obtained, the selection will be invalidated even after the decision has been made.
- All rights related to the submitted logo designs and all trademarks related to the selected logo design shall belong to the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. Applicants shall not exercise their moral rights with regard to the selected logo design. As a general rule, we will not make any changes to the selected logo design other than adjusting the size, converting it to black and white, and translating it into Japanese and English.
- If any false information is found in the application form, the design may be rejected even after it has been selected.
- The final version of the logo will be distributed to parties approved by the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and will be used for projects related to the 70th anniversary of Philippines-Japan friendship.
- We will not disclose or provide applicants’ personal information (excluding names and affiliations) to third parties without the applicants’ permission.
- We will not send notifications regarding the acceptance or rejection of logo designs. We are also unable to respond to inquiries regarding the selection process.
