The French Embassy cancelled its red carpet opening for its 22nd Film Festival, supposedly at the Central Square Cinemas in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City, today (June 8, 2017).
In a statement, the Embassy noted the withdrawal of the scheduled event was due to security concerns, as advised by its partners and sponsors.
No details about what the “security concerns” were cited, however.
Public viewing of the French films will continue as scheduled, from June 9 to 17 at the Ayala Malls Cinemas in Greenbelt 3 and the BHS Central Square Cinemas.
In an earlier press conference and movie preview, the red carpet launch was announced, following the tradition of holding it in previous years. This marked the formall kickoff of the oft-awaited list of French films.
